Questions?

Here are some of the most common questions I get about working together.

If you don’t see your question listed or are ready to schedule a free consult, contact me.

  • Everyone faces challenges at different points in life. You may have handled many of them on your own, and that says a lot about your resilience. At the same time, reaching out for support when you need it is a meaningful and healthy choice. Therapy isn’t about weakness; it’s about recognizing when some extra support could make a difference.

Choosing therapy is a way of honoring where you are right now and taking a step toward the life you want. It can offer lasting support, helping you build tools to navigate triggers, shift unhelpful patterns, and move through challenges with greater clarity and confidence.

  • Therapy is a collaborative and personalized experience. Each session is shaped around you, your goals, your concerns, and what matters most in your life. Together, we’ll explore what’s been weighing on you and what you’d like to change or better understand.  Therapy can be short-term or longer-term depending on your needs.

Here are some things you can expect:

    • A space grounded in compassion, respect, and understanding

    • Gentle insight into patterns that may be holding you back

    • Practical tools to support positive change

    • Thoughtful, research-informed approaches tailored to you

  • The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. You’re welcome to share as much or as little as feels comfortable. We’ll talk about what brings you in, what you’re hoping for, and any questions you have about the process or about me.

It’s completely normal to feel a bit nervous at first. Many people find that those feelings ease as the session goes on. And if, for any reason, it doesn’t feel like the right fit, I’m happy to help connect you with someone who may be a better match.

  • Your role is simply to show up as you are. Being open and honest can help you get the most out of therapy, but there’s no expectation of perfection. Growth can sometimes feel challenging, and that’s a natural part of the process.

You’re always encouraged to share what feels helpful and what doesn’t, your voice matters here, and we can adjust our work together to better support you.

  • I have an office in Music Row in Nashville, Tennessee, and I also offer telehealth sessions for clients located in Tennessee and Illinois.

  • Sessions are available by appointment, with both daytime and evening options. You’re welcome to call, email or text to schedule. If I’m unavailable, please leave a message, and I’ll respond as soon as I can, typically within 24 hours.

If you’re experiencing a psychiatric emergency, please call 911

  • A 60-minute session is $185. I also offer a limited number of sliding scale spots, please feel free to ask if cost is a concern.

  • Please cancel at least 24 hours in advance so the time can be offered to someone else. Missed appointments are typically charged, though I understand that unexpected situations come up. If something happens, just reach out and we can talk through it.

  • I don’t bill insurance directly, but I can provide a Superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. You can contact your insurance provider to learn more about your specific benefits. I recommend that you call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card and ask them to explain your “out of network” benefits to you.

Some clients also use flexible spending accounts (FSA/HSA), which may be another helpful option.

  • This decision is rooted in offering you greater flexibility, privacy, and choice in your care. Insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis and not everyone who benefits from therapy is mentally ill.  By not working directly with insurance, we can focus more fully on your individual needs without those constraints.  It also allows for greater confidentiality, as your personal information is not shared with insurance databases.

  • Payment is due at the time of service unless we’ve made other arrangements. I accept cash, credit cards, HSA cards, Venmo, and Zelle.

  • You’re always welcome to reach out with any questions. I’d be glad to connect and see how I can support you. I look forward to the possibility of working together.
